How to Allow a Game in Windows Defender and Antivirus

Windows Defender may flag your game as a threat and delete important files. Here’s how to prevent it:

  1. Press Win + I to open Settings.
  2. Go to Update & Security > Windows Security.
  3. Click Virus & threat protection.
  4. Under Virus & threat protection settings, click Manage settings.
  5. Scroll down and click Add or remove exclusions under Exclusions.
  6. Click Add an exclusion > Folder.
  7. Select your game’s installation folder (e.g., C:\Games\GameName).
  8. Close the settings and restart your PC.

Now, Windows Defender won’t delete or block your game files.

Exclude the Game from Third-Party Antivirus

If you’re using another antivirus (e.g., Avast, Kaspersky, Bitdefender, McAfee), follow similar steps:

  1. Open your antivirus software.
  2. Go to Settings > Exclusions/Exceptions.
  3. Add the game folder and .exe file to exclusions.
  4. Save and restart your PC.
